Was the purpose of the flood to destroy the giants? |

Myth: The reason for the flood was to destroy the giantsContrary to common thinking, the giants were not killed by the flood. According to Enoch, they were killed off by a worldwide civil war of giants, which lasted for 120 years, BEFORE the flood. In the Enoch’s book we read, “And to Gabriel said the Lord: ‘Proceed against the bastards and the reprobates, and against the children of fornication: and destroy the children of fornication and the children of the Watchers from amongst men: and cause them to go forth: send them one against the other that they may destroy each other in battle: for length of days shall they not have.’” (Enoch 10:9) This is confirmed by a second ancient witness-- the Book of Jubilees. Here is the quote, “Against their sons went forth a command from before His face that they should be smitten with the sword, and be removed from under heaven. And He said ‘My spirit shall not always abide on man; for they also are flesh and their days shall be one hundred and twenty years’. And He sent His sword into their midst that each should slay his neighbour, and they began to slay each other till they all fell by the sword and were destroyed from the earth. And their fathers were witnesses (of their destruction), and after this they were bound in the depths of the earth for ever, until the day of the great condemnation, when judgment is executed on all those who have corrupted their ways and their works before the Lord. And He destroyed all from their places, and there was not left one of them whom He judged not according to all their wickedness.” (Jubilees 5:7-11) From the Books of Genesis, Enoch and Jubilees, here is the chronological picuture that emerges... 120 years before the flood, Azazel is bound in the Abyss. Then a civil war is incited between the rival tribes of Watcher offspring which have populated the world. The remaining 199 Watchers are helpless to stop this internecine warfare but rather are forced to witness the decimation of their children which takes 120 years. The Watchers who have remained free up to this time are imprisoned together with Azazel in the Abyss. At which time, the death of Methuselah takes place. Noah enters the ark and is shut in by the hand of God. The flood begins.
